Fantastic capture, great editing, good sharpness and contrasts overall. When looking on the spiral it kind of pulls me into the picture - a very surreal and abstract shot! Well deserved win on the Stairways Photo Challenge! Congratulations :)

Location
The Picture has been taken in a Hotel on Mallorca Island - SpainTime
It was around 5pm and the sunset was around 8pm...Lighting
The Staircase is inside the Hotel and there is only a narrow window from the top of the staircase all the way down..Equipment
I used my Canon 5D MKIII freehand with the Canon EF 16-35mm 1:2,8L II USM lens. No FlashInspiration
I love this natural rounding of the handrail and the strong suction effect of this staircase..Editing
This is the interesting part of the picture. First point: The stairs are not going all the way down. Interrupted at every level, I had to remove this flat surface from the picture by replacing them with other stairs to get this continues spiral effect all the way down. Second step: may not be necessary but i added two floors to get a longer and deeper spiral effect.. and finally i changed the colours from the white handrail to blue/green and for the grey stairs i added a touch of brown..In my camera bag
I always travel with: Canon 5D MK III Canon EF 16-35mm 1:2,8L II USM wide-angle lens the Canon EF 70-300mm 1:4-5,6 L IS USM zoom lens. Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT Manfrotto MT055CXPRO4 055 Carbon Fibre with a CULLMANN MAGNESIT MB8.4 ballheadFeedback
Take your time to center your camera over the staircase. if you are ussing a 6D or a other WiFi camera just use Camera Connect software on your phone for a liveview over the staircase .. Or if you are using a camera without WiFi just look for a gadget like CamRanger or similar to get liveview over wifi. Much easyer to get the POV you are looking for ...
