Location
It was summer and I was in Wales on vacation with my wife. This is a car parked in a parking lot in the south of Wales, Gower Peninsula, near Rhossili. It was a great day, with an amazing "painted" sky and a very beautiful place... and I take a photo in a parking lot! Isn't this amazing?Time
It was morning, almost lunchtime.Lighting
As always with my work, the only light is the sun. In this shot it was high in the sky in a lucky-sunny day in wales.Equipment
My loyal nikon D60 with a brand new Tokina 12-24 (f4). It was the third time I was using that combination and I really enjoyed the wideangle.Inspiration
I was attracted by the car. It was the only one of that kind in that parking lot, so small, so classic. I tried different angles to avoid other vehicles (all modern and boring cars). The sky, the reflections, the shiny glass and hood of the car. It was a perfect situation to exploit the power of photography that let you take that single details out of a context and allow you to create your own story of that detail.Editing
Yes, some. Mainly sharpening the image in order to get the best effect from the lines of the car and the sky reflections. I wanted all the details to jump out of the photo, in paricular all the lines of the light of the car.In my camera bag
Not much aside the camera and the lens I used here. I usually have another camera, which is a Nikon d7000 that is now the "chosen one" for obvious reasons.Feedback
First of all, go to Wales! No, I think this is a quite easy shot to takeid the condition are good... The car does almost all the work and the sky complete the opera. The angle is important and I think it's better not to "reveal" all the car's details and features. Try to focus on few details that can show the history, the "carisma" of the car without letting anyting else disturb the attention of the viewer. The RAC badge, the clean and shiny hood and the detailed light. That is enough to tell you something about that subject, to create a connection, but in the same time leave some mistery around it that makes it even more interesting.
