Location
I took this photo in Crete, during last summer. We went to a very nice monastery near the airport. The place name is Moni Agias Triados ton Tzagkarolon. It was a spectacular place for taking a lot of photos. This is one of them.Time
It was late in the morning, the sun was quite high in the sky. We spend there almost two hours roaming around and taking photos. If I recall correctly, this one was the last one I took there.Lighting
As usual, nothing more and nothing less than sunlight. I really don't need anything more than that, expecially in cases like this.Equipment
My faithful Nikon D60 with a beautiful tokina lens 12-24. And a good eye...Inspiration
Well, the subject of this photo is actually a wall and the "footprints" are "fingerprints" all along the wall surface. But as soon as I saw this peculiar kind of decoration, I immediately saw a desert full of little prints made by a mysterious traveller... I started to look for the best angle, the best depth of field, but I had this imagine in my mind clear as you see it now. I made three shots here, with different features. This was the first one.Editing
This photo didn't require a lot of post processing. I've charged the saturation a little, enhanced the contrast, but that was it. It was good since the start. In my camera bag
As I said I alwais have my D60 with the Tokina lens (12-24 f4). There is one new entry now which is a nikon D7000 with a Sigma 70-300 on it. Finally I have my favourite, a nikon FM2 with a 50mm nikon lens, and that is for the special shots. No flash, no tripod, nothin else, and that is more than enough since I usually rake my photos during travels around the globe.Feedback
Well, one thing I've learned not so long ago is to take photos of details of very normal thing trying to imagine that the subject is something else, totally different. This is not only giving me a loto of satisfacion, but it makes both the process of the shooting and of the post processing very enjoyable and a true challenge to obtain the right results. For this specific photo, the only true element that is truly necessary, is a plane ticket to Crete!
