Location
In Landa park in New Braunfels, Texas where I lived for a few years.Time
This was midday I believe and thinly cloudy.Lighting
I love natural lighting and this is a massive tree, about 50 feet tall, and I wanted the light to silhouette it a bit also.Equipment
I just took a single, handheld photo with my 5D mark ii with a Canon 16-35mm lens at 16mm. No flash or tripod or anything.Inspiration
I love taking photographs of trees. I grew up in Houston with lots of different types of trees like tall Pines and Huge Oaks so they always fascinated me. I climbed any that allowed me to.Editing
I didn't have to do much really. It's the vignette that makes it look almost like an x-ray or a negative image. I just darkened it more than normal when I discovered how cool it looked. In my camera bag
I like to travel light when I'm out and about so I normally carry a 16-35mm and a 50mm. Sometimes I'll carry a little longer lens like an 85mm but the other two are my favorite all around lenses. I carry a carbon fiber tripod when I'm out too but not on that day. I wasn't looking for anything in particular.Feedback
Just go shoot a lot of trees. There are so many that'll just catch your eye and look great as photographs. Especially huge ones that have so many exposed branches from below. No outer branches to get in the way of the skeleton.
