Behind The Lens

Location

Skillman, NJ. in a park that was once an insane asylum.

Time

Evening. I went to this place specifically. to watch a sunset.

Lighting

The lighting was great. The light played perfectly through the trees as it set. I loved it.

Equipment

Canon 5D Mark ii Canon 16-35mm Vanguard Alta Pro Tripod

Inspiration

I watched the sun set in the area many times as I drive by all the time on the way home. It comes through the trees perfectly. I just really loved the way it looked with the road and the trees.

Editing

I did basic color correction in photoshop and also used Topaz Clarity and Topaz Adjust. Since I was pointing the camera at the sun the shadows were tough. So I had to work on them to bring out some detail. Shooting in RAW made this easier.

In my camera bag

I don't have a lot of gear although I recently bought 100-400mm Canon telephoto and although it's heavy, its a great lens. I carry everything I own of significance with me. That's it my landscape lens and now my telephoto lens along with batteries and various filters and stuff.

Feedback

We travel a let. My camera is always with me. If I find something I think is interesting I pull over and take some photos. I am lucky in that there are a lot of pretty spots in my area to shoot. Whether it be a farm, cows, horses or goats. Try different things. In our area we have lots of pretty pasture and stables. I asked some of the folks who own a stable and they were more than happy to let me shoot their horses. So, I find a lot of different things interesting hopefully those that look at my photos find what post here interesting as well.
