The great thing about abstract macro is that great images literally appear in front of your eyes.

Location
In my own home with no elaborate studio facilities - just my camera and the flowers.Time
During the afternoon as the front of the house, where the kitchen is, faces West.Lighting
Only natural light filtering through the kitchen window.Equipment
Camera Canon 600D, ltripod, Tamron 90mm macro lens, no flash.Inspiration
I enjoy taking abstract macro shots that question the viewers eye, the less obvious the subject matter the better. I also love the many colours that nature provides without additional help from the settings on my camera.Editing
I really don't do post processing; the only post-processing I may do is crop. I suppose that makes me a bit of a purist but to me the ideal shot is just me, my camera and my ability with the camera which should mean I will improve with experience. In my camera bag
My camera bag is bursting with equipment. I have two Canon Cameras - a 450D and a 600D, 2 90mm macro lenses, 2 standard lens, a zoom macro to 300mm, tripod (on the outside of the bag), macro light ring and accessories, spare cards, filters, spare batteries, lens and camera instruction booklets and a bright pink self inflating cushion (best Xmas present ever). My husband had clearly had enough of my dirty clothes from kneeling on the ground in all weathers to take macro shots.Feedback
Abstract macro photography is amazing. Great images can just generate themselves on the screen or in the viewfinder by slowly turning the lens. Choosing subject matter is of paramount importance as depth of field and blurry background is part of the process. This particular shot is a close up of a lily stamen coated in pollen. I was so excited to see this on the pc monitor - a joyful moment for me.
