I saved the money, husband chose the destination for his 50th birthday. The Azores. What an amazing place. Capelinhos became famous for a volcanic eruption in 1957 that created a new landscape for the village of Capelinhos. If you could turn around you would see what is left of the whaling village of Porto do Comprido that had to be abandoned with many families leaving the island for good.
