Location
This photo was taken at the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls, Canada. It is an amazing place to visit with hundreds of butterflies of all colors and sizes flying around, landing on the plants and eating fruit.Time
I visited the Conservatory on a mid-afternoon in late August.Lighting
The sun was high in the sky overhead. The conservatory is all glass so there was a lot of natural light.Equipment
I used my first digital camera, an Olympus SP-500 UZ, which I purchased in 2006. I still use the same camera and it still works great. .Inspiration
Butterflies are so delicate and beautiful, and their life span is so short. I wanted to capture them in time, so their beauty can be enjoyed by others for years to come .Editing
This photo was part of a larger image. I cropped the image and sharpened it. I also increased the saturation a bit to make it more colorful. In my camera bag
I am an amateur photographer and taking photos is my hobby. I only have my 10 year old Olympus SP-500 UZ camera in my bag. I don't own any lenses, tripods or other equipment. I recently purchased a Nikon Coolpix because at times I need something that can fit in my pocket.Feedback
My advice to others that want to capture something similar is to take LOTS of photos. The beauty of having a digital camera is that you can delete the ones you don't want later. I usually take several photos of the same thing but at different angles, just in case. You never know what you have until you get home and look at them and play around with them.
