Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken when I visited the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in Hyde Park, New York. It is situated along the Hudson River in the beautiful Hudson River Valley.

Time

It was an early evening in late June.

Lighting

It was a sunny evening. Both sides (background and foreground) of the river were shaded by the trees. The river (middle) was full sun. This gives the photograph depth.

Equipment

I used an Olympus Camera

Inspiration

As I came out of the Institute, I caught a glimpse of shimmering water. I walked across the campus lot to get a better view of the Hudson River. I found this peaceful and picturesque spot complete with a couple relaxing on the bench. I felt like I was capturing a special, private moment of theirs.

Editing

I cropped the photo and changed it from color to black and white.

In my camera bag

I don't carry anything in my bag except for my camera and extra batteries.

Feedback

Some of my favorite photos are ones like this, where the subjects are unaware that they are being photographed and therefore are completely natural. Photographs that capture private moments like this gives the viewer the feeling of being a voyeur.
