The Mysore Palace in Karnataka India, lights up spectacularly every Sunday with about a hundred thousand incandescent bulbs for 45 minutes to provide a rare visual treat to visitors.

The Palace is now home to the Titular Crown Prince of Mysore, a descendent of the royal Wodeyar Dynasty who ruled Mysore for 650 years and who now receives a Privy Purse from the Government of India after annexing his Kingdom with Indian states after monarchy was abolished in 1947.

The Palace was opened for public viewing at a price by the Government's approval to consolidate the Privy Purse to help maintain the Palace and Royal expenses and other attached Royal estates. Photography within the Palace is prohibited.
