The Mysore Palace, India, lit up spectacularly with over 96 thousand incandescent bulbs. This event is a Sunday evening ritual that lasts for 45 minutes and is a sight to behold!

The erstwhile kingdom of Mysore was founded in 1399. The Wodeyar dynasty ruled from 1399 until India's Independence in 1947. They are the only Royal family in India to have ruled for more than 500 years continuously since the kingdom came into being.

Presently the Palace is home to the Titular Crown Prince of Mysore, a descendent of the Wodeyar royal clan, Yaduveer Krishnadutta Chamaraja Wodiyar. The Palace premises are maintained from the earnings of it as a tourist attraction. Any photography within the Palace chambers is forbidden.
