Location
This photo was taken on the grounds of Princeton University. My family and I leave not far from the campus, and we frequently take walks there. I often bring my camera with me, as the PU campus is quite scenic, especially when the Fall foliage is in full swing.Time
This image was taken on an October weekend; while I do not remember specific time, it was towards the late afternoon.Lighting
I love shooting outdoors using the natural light. Often it can be tricky, especially on bright sunny day, but that day it was cloudy and windy, which provided for nice even lighting for this scene.Equipment
This photo was taken hand-held with my Nikon D200 and a 35-70/F2.8 Nikkor lens. I did not use flash, as I took a series of shots in a quick-fire mode, and flash would slow down the series.Inspiration
I was on a walk through the grounds of Princeton University with my family. One of our favorite places on the campus is the fountain by Robertson Hall. My daughter, who was five at the time and loved running around (and still does) started running around the perimeter of the fountain. As she got hot, she took off her jacket and simply wrapped it around her shoulders - without ever stopping in the process. She was laughing as she ran, and was so full of pure joy, and I felt compelled to capture that moment.Editing
I did some post-processing of this photo using Adobe Lightroom. The horizon line was a bit off, so I straightened the photo. I also lightened it a bit, as the camera original came out a little dark.In my camera bag
I believe that it's the photographer and not the gear that makes a great photo. So, I'm not a gear head, and I usually just have my DSLR (these days it's a Nikon D7000) and the 18-200 DX VR Nikon zoom lens. Sometimes I switch the 18-200 for the smaller 35-70/2.8 AF lens (old and trusty). Depending on where I am and what I'm shooting I may also carry with me a flash.Feedback
It's all about being ready. So, have your camera with you at all times and look for opportunities to make a great shot. And take many shots at different angles, points, etc., so that you can chose a truly good one.
