"Hiding in the shadows, she watches as Phillip approaches her and leans over to kiss her. Unfortunately, nothing happens and Aurora remains asleep. After he's dragged out, Maleficent comes out of hiding and looks upon what she has done. She was lost in hatred and revenge that she forgot about love and happiness until she met Aurora. In tears, she kisses Aurora on the forehead and bids her goodbye, but before she can even leave a miracle happens: Aurora wakes up happy to see her fairy godmother. Maleficent's motherly love for Aurora was enough to break the curse."

In an age where we can all photoshop photos to death, and try for all these amazing shots....this is the most refreshing shot I've seen in a very long time. You captured a second of happiness, caught pure, raw human emotion in an elegant simplicity that speaks for itself. What a beautiful woman :)

Very early in the morning, around 7am.Lighting
Well, I was with a model shooting a Maleficent-inspired spread for her fashion/beauty blog in this very deep forest, with almost no natural light coming through the leaves and trees, when, rushing towards another location, a beam of sun light managed to go through the dense vegetation. It wasn't much, and somehow the amount of leaves and trees worked out as natural diffusers and warmed up its brightness enough for me to use as main light. When I first saw this beam of sun light, I pictured a monochrome resulting image in my head, not sure why, so having this in mind I made a few changes on the settings and shot it as dark as possible, knowing the sun ray would illuminate the model's face, at least partially.Equipment
I used my Canon 6D with a 24-105 f4L lens, filterless. Handheld, with no flash.Inspiration
I got inspired by nature itself I would say.. After being shooting the spread within very tall trees and plants, with almost no natural light coming through; it was nice, and surprising, to see the sun when it managed to sneak through, so I dropped everything and contrived how to use it to my will, at least for a little while.. It worked perfectly, for the resulting picture and us, because it gave us a moment to relax ourselves and enjoy the surroundings, since until that moment I just looked for specific areas to shoot the spread at, but it wasn't until that moment I actually realized where was I and could enjoyed it fully.Editing
Yes. Well, first of all, I was shooting the fashion spread with a customized white balance, trying to bring the natural colors of the forest up a little but maintaining a dark environment with the settings I used throughout. When I first saw the beam of sun light, I pictured a monochrome image in my head, not sure why, so having this in mind I made a few changes on the settings and shot it as dark as possible, knowing the sun ray would illuminate the model's face, at least partially. I thought that with the white balance I was shooting with it would give me very nice dark tones and not entirely white the white ones but a bit tinted, and it indeed happened that way. Once in post-processing (I used Lightroom), I desaturated the image completely, pursuing the monochrome idea, then continued working on darken the dark tones a bit further, but trying to keep the whites as shot, a bit tinted and on the grayscale. Raised the amounts of clarity and contrast, cleaned the skin a bit and added some sharpness to it.In my camera bag
Besides my Canon 6D, I usually bring along 3 or 4 lenses.. a Canon 24-104 f4L, a Canon 100 f2.8L macro, a Sigma 35 f1.4 DG Arts, and depending on the assignment a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX DG OS. I used to bring a Canon 50 1.4L also but it broke down. Also, I bring along a Neewer flash, polarized filters for each lens, remote triggers, 2 diffusers (small and medium sized), extra batteries for camera and flash, reflector and a Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
Since this image in particular wasn't planned or sought for, I could just advise to be aware, while on location, of your surroundings, of every detail that, in the area you are working at, could very well work either to enhance an image, frame it, give additional lightning, or makes for an outstanding subject or background. Don't get there just focussed on a specific idea or concept, that would blind you for other aspects that would help to make your photograph amazing. That, and don't be afraid to experiment with the white balance, I think I managed to get these tones due to the customized white balance I chose to work with during the jungly fashion spread I was working on that morning.
