Great idea and execution! I'm going to have to play with this idea and see what I can come up with.

From 1 Mini Cooper owner to another. Absolutely beautiful & creative shot. Next time I drive my Mini this perspective will alway be in the back of my mind. Great job. Send this photo to BMW I am sure they would use it.

Location
I was in my beloved Mini, travelling home one night along the M1 motorway to my home in Dunmurry, Co. AntrimTime
It was approximately 10pm I think. It was dark, so it was late. It was mid summer as far as I can recallLighting
All the light in the photo is from the street lights, or other cars on the roadEquipment
I bought an 8mm fisheye lens, just to shoot this. I'd tried before using normal wide angle lenses, but none of them gave me the field of view I wanted. I had it mounted on my old Canon 650d. The hardest part was getting the camera to sit still. I had it mounted on a tripod, strapped into the passenger seat using the seatbelt.Inspiration
I had wanted to shoot something different, using a wider angle of view for a long time. I'd shot countless versions before this using standard lenses. I did a whole series of these. My friends liked the one of me doing the dishes the most of all of them. Although they liked this too.Editing
I think I applied a HDR type of effect using lightroom. And I messed about with the colour toning a little bit. It was too dark straight out of camera. The original shot had three arms in it, so I removed one in Photoshop so that people wouldn't ask me if I had three arms.In my camera bag
Nowadays, I almost always shoot on my Canon 6d. There's very little in my camera bag apart from that. Maybe the odd spare battery and a small collapsible tripodFeedback
Be patient. Try to get a sturdy platform to set your camera on. This may not always be possible if ur shooting from a moving vehicle. Long exposures work best for this effect. I think this one was around 20 seconds. Any longer was just too bright. Most importantly, have fun. Don't beat yourself up if you don't get the shot first time. I took about 100 photos of the same thing that night. Make sure you have plenty of fuel in your car too, haha.
