Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in Dittmer, Missouri

Time

I took after dusk, the sky was already dark because of the storm clouds.

Lighting

Since this was taken at right after dusk the only flash that was used was the camera flash, the aperture fully open set on night.

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon Rebel T4i, Tamron 70-200mm lens/uv filter, camera flash. I balanced the lens on the railing of the back deck. I shoot about 15 frames and although I really like them all this was my favorite.

Inspiration

My eyes are magically drawn to the sky. I love shooting the sky, clouds, storms and moons, they have a majestic hold on me. We had a bad storm coming in and the sky was so beautiful I knew I have to some pictures. Dawn or dusk, night or day, if I don't have my camera (I have upgrade to a Canon 6D), I dig my iPhone out and just start shooting.

Editing

This is a JPEG photo, I only cropped out one side that trees where in.

In my camera bag

Gosh, more then I need, that's for sure. But most I have my filters, the standard 50mm lens and depending on where I am headed 2 other zoom lenses. Extra battery packs and memory cards. Also my laptop.

Feedback

Keep your eye on the sky and be patience. I know I sat there at least 20 minutes with my eye on the viewfinder and finger on button, zooming in and out. Plus it helps to be in the right place at the right time.
