Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this at the fuel dock in Dutch Harbor Alaska

Time

It was around 3pm

Lighting

It was all natural lighting. Dutch Harbor is known for it´s overcast skies so the cloud diffusion worked out great

Equipment

I was using my old Sony a100 and an old minolta 200mm f4 lens. Affectionately known as "the beer can"

Inspiration

Eagles are almost everywhere in Alaska and I didn´t have one good close-up in my portfolio. I had to slowly approach this one so he wouldn´t fly off

Editing

Yes, I did do just of bit of PP. It was shot as a jpg so the edits were minor. Basically levels to increase contrast and saturation

In my camera bag

Nowadays I shoot with the Sony a77 and a minolta 50mm or a CZ 135mm. The "beer can" has since died on me.

Feedback

When shooting wildlife. Have patience. Don´t disturb the flora or fauna around you. Be prepared to do some treking. Have fun.
