This was taken at a state park called Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley, Washington in June 2008. I was walking back to my car, when this leaf caught my eye. The skeletal remains of a leaf, that is breaking apart and going back into the earth to give nutrients back to the earth that it once came from (that was the thought that ran through my head). I took the leaf over to my car set it on the hood and started taking shots of it from many angles, then put the leaf back so it could finish its job. When I got home I processed my photos and this one was my favorite because of the curls in the leaf and the shadow it cast on the hood of my car.

Great subject = great picture. Good eye for the unusual and making it into art. Love it. Now a favorite. And I voted.
