The machine in the foreground is called a Feller-Buncher. It grabs the tree and holds it while the shears at the bottom of the felling head shear-cut the tree. At this point it still has a good grip on the tree, so it moves it over, lays it down and stacks it. (hence the Buncher part of the name)
The machine in the background is called a Skidder. It takes the laying trees and drags them to a roadside or flat location where they are loaded by yet another piece of equipment: a loader, or in most cases a self loader, attached to the trailer on a logging truck and the trees are sent to their final destination...leaving the woodpeckers to eat grass and the bunnies and birds shopping for Condos.

Nice detail and light in this shot, but as a tree lover, Something-Or-Other Machine is no friend of mine!!

I love this, so much detail, just beautiful for a something -or -other machine! Voted (and for all your other photos too).

Voted Large Machines. I've seen these powerful monsters in action and it is quite a sight to behold.
