Paul, being "featured" means your photo has caught the attention of the judges- some of the worlds best in photography. It's Viewbug's way of recognizing your talent. There are hundred's of thousands of photos's posted on Viewbug daily and yours stood out among them all, as one of the best. It's quite an honor! It also brings attention to your photo to the entire Viewbug masses... which is how I came to see this amazing capture. Being "featured" will bring you a lot of peer attention and recognition! Congratulations!

I have gotten a few asking my camera setting for this shot so I thought I would explain how I formed this shot... It is a Composite photo from 3 shots I took at different times with different settings and lenses but the same camera... I used a Canon T3 ...
The Sunset what shot with a Canon 18mm~55mm AF/IS lens at camera setting of S/60,F-4.5,ASA-100 on a tripod ..
The Kissing Couple was actually shot midday using a 18mm~55mm AF/IS lens at cameras setting of S/500,F-5.7,ASA-100...
The Star Field and Milky Way was shot using a 55mm AF/IS Cannon Lens mounted on a Meade Tracking Tripod from my telescope with a camera setting of S-25sec, F-5.6, ASA 400 ..
I then using Corel Photo Paint software cut out the Couple Kissing and darkened to black, masked all the dark foreground in the Sunset and made into an object overlay then faded the Star Field and Milky Way over the Sunset and blended together... Oh.. The Star Field was shot near Harlan Kentucky on top of a Coal Mine reclamation lands, The Sun Set was shot in Corbin Kentucky at Cumberland Falls State Park and the Kissing Couple was shot in Barbourville,Kentucky and the City Water Park (Brick Yard Ponds)
The Sunset what shot with a Canon 18mm~55mm AF/IS lens at camera setting of S/60,F-4.5,ASA-100 on a tripod ..

Gorgeous shot! I have just started getting into star photography! I love the silhouette in the foreground and I love the overall image. Would be interested to know your settings for such a great sky capture if you would be willing to share?

Location
This shot is a Composite of 4 photos taken at different times and locations... The Milky Way was shot near Harlan, Kentucky using a Meade Telescope tracking mount from my telescope... I mounted my Canon T3 to the mount and took a 25 second exposure with a 75mm Canon Lens... The Kissing Couple Silhouette was taken at the Barbourville, Ky Water park and then darkened to black... The Sunset was taken near Heidrick, Ky The Bear Trees and brush was taken near Corbin, Ky and darkened to black..Time
Several different times for the different composite pieces... The Start Field was around 11pm...Lighting
Not really most was done post production...Equipment
The Camera was a Canon T3 for all elements... Len's were a 18mm to 55mm Canon AF, 55mm to 250mm Canon AF (75mm) and a 55mm to 250mm Canon AF (100mm & 125mm)Inspiration
Had the Star Field shot on hand and it just seemed a good base for the couple I caught kissing at the park...Editing
Yes... I faded the Star Field onto a Sunset I had taken and then over laid the kissing couple and plants over the star field/sunsetIn my camera bag
I generally carry a Cannon T3, Cannon 18~55mm, 55~250mm & 75~300mm lenes, a Minolta 55mm manual lens with reverse adapter for Macro, 2 extra batts, Canon EOS TTl Flash, Remote shutter release with timer, Proline Ball Head tripod, set of Minolta Macro Rings in 6mm,10mm,20mmFeedback
