This photo was very tricky to take. It was not only through the glass of the tank but the tank was inside a room so I had to take it through two thick pieces of glass. It is always quite dark in Reptile House at Melbourne Zoo, so I had to crank up the ISO to 6400 and even then the best speed I could manage was 1-160.

It was a very dark enclosure and the alligator was in a large fish tank which was in a room behind very thick windows. I had to put the ISO right up to 6400 and even then I only managed to get 1/160sec exposure time. I also had the f-stop at f/5.6.Equipment
I used my Canon 60D with the 18-200mm lens set at 200mm. It was a hand held photo, although I did lean against the wall to steady myself.Inspiration
I just loved the way sections of it were reflected in the water, especially the eye and nostrils.Editing
No post-processing on this photo. In my camera bag
Canon 60D, 18-200mm lens, 10-20mm lens & 25mm extension tube. And lots of spare memory cards.Feedback
If you can take a tripod with you, then you may be able to lower the ISO & shutter speed, which should reduce the noise in the photo. The alligator didn't move around much so a longer exposure time would more than likely not have cause any further blur.
