I can't believe how extraordinarily beautiful this capture is! Wowzo! How did the black background happen? I'm assuming this wasn't shot in a studio, lol.

Stunningly beautiful photo of this magnificent creature. It has an almost "thoughtful" look on its face.

Location
The photo was taken during a family holiday to Sydney. We went to Taronga Park Zoo on the first day and I took several hundred photos as we walked around the entire zoo.Time
It was taken around 2:45pm.Lighting
The weather was a very overcast day with frequent light showers, although the sun made brief appearances. I had to up the ISO to 5000 to get a quick enough photo through the glass.Equipment
I was using a Canon EOS 60D, with 18-200mm Canon lens. I had the aperture at f/5.6 and an exposure time of 1/640 sec. No other equipment used.Inspiration
I have always loved tigers and whenever I see one in a good position I will attempt to take a photo. This tiger was moving constantly but when he stopped right in front of me it was as though he was saying "Go on then take a photo". Having missed this type of opportunity many times before trying to compose the picture to be perfect, only to have the animal move away, I just started clicking and hoping for the best. As it turned out it would have been the one occasion I could have taken the time as he stood there for quite a while.Editing
No post pressing has been involved in this photo, other than the in-camera processing that Canon cameras do when taking both RAW & JPEG photos. The JPEGs always look slightly different to the RAW image. In my camera bag
I normally only have my Canon 60D, 18-200mm Canon lens with a polarising filter and little else. If I am going somewhere I know I will need different lenses I will pack my 90-300mm Canon & 10-20mm Sigma lenses as well. Recently, because I have been doing a lot of night shots I have start taking my shutter release and tripod on trips.Feedback
Patience and a lot of luck are probably the your best allies in taking this sort of shot. It is not often you are presented with the opportunity to take photos like this so make sure you take advantage of them when they do present themselves.
