Location
This photo was taken at the Muncaster Hawk & Owl Centre in the Lake District of England. It was taken when we were on holiday.Time
The photo was taken at lunchtime. The kids were eating and I just wandered around taking a few photos and this was probably the best of the lotLighting
The enclosure was quite dark, but the owl was very still so I was able to use a low shutter speed.Equipment
I only had my Canon PowerShot S5 IS with me on this trip as we had too much other items to take on the trip to take my Canon 10D.Inspiration
I have always loved birds and owls in particular. I took this photo because of the beautiful big eyes.Editing
I didn't do any adjustments to the image itself, although I did crop it from landscape to portrait. In my camera bag
These days I nearly always have my Canon 60D with 18-200mm Canon lens, 10--20mm Sigma, 150-600mm Tamron, a 12mm and 25mm extension tubes and a circular polarising filter and a neutral density filter. I usually carry a shutter release and tripod as well.Feedback
As with most bird shots, patience is the key, or a great deal of luck.
