Behind The Lens

Location

This is called the Enchanted Forest by the locals. The woods are Cypress trees, above Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach California, 25 minutes South of San Francisco.

Time

This was taken in late November about 2:30

Lighting

It can be dark in these woods so I adjust the exposure in Lightroom

Equipment

This image was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P80 no tripod, no flash

Inspiration

I love the look of the repetitive trees and the path and the shadows on the ground.

Editing

Ex 1/16, F/3.2 Focal Length 4.7 mm ISO 64 I did adjust the lighting and focus and clarity in develop in Lightroom. sometimes I use a flash when I photograph these woods. I have taken many pictures of these trees at different times of the day and different months

In my camera bag

I enjoyed the Coolpix P80 it is light weight easy, I could zoom in 18x on the tide pools and distant images and get great close ups. Now I am transitioning to using a Nikon D5300 I have a couple lenses 55-300 and an 18-55 , for a while I was taking both cameras but seem to be getting more skilled with the D5300 at least more in focus images using Aperture priority more.

Feedback

Photograph it often, different times of the day, , use a tripod and a longer exposure, try using a flash, I often shoot several images at different angels and focal lengths that way I have more to choose from, to pick the best image, and still adjust the exposure and sharpen the focus using develop in Lightroom.
