Location
This is one of the most incredible Louvre ceilings.Time
About 10AM local time.Lighting
It was clouded outside and the Louvre has a dimmed light for this roof to control the damange on the paintings all made in the wooden panels. That works well for the naked eye, not so good for cameras The challenge was obviously to capture the painting details and control the noise.Equipment
For this shot I had a Canon Rebel XS with a Tamron 10-24mm lens. Tripods are not allowed in Louvre, but nobody said anything about liying down on the floor to take the shot.Inspiration
I have a passion for detailed ceilings and I think when constructing these old buildings they had an amazing importance and spent a lot of time with all the details.Editing
I used a wide angle lens, so I had to correct the distortion that it caused as well as cropping out some unnecessary wall on both sides. Apart from that, just regular LR workflow: pump colors a little, balance shadows and highlights to bring up more details, noise control, etc...In my camera bag
Today I carry a Canon 6D Lenses: Canon 4-105mm f4 L Canon 50mm f1.8 Canon 75-300 f4-5.6 USM II Filters: UV, ND, polarizer, skylight Batteries, cards, Speedlite 550EX Tripod, remote shutterFeedback
Look up, lie down.
