"Wild and Scenic" - Deep in the Cascade Range of Washington, the North Fork Sauk River Falls provides a classic Northwest river scene. The Sauk River is a part of the 158 miles of the Skagit River Wild and Scenic River System providing long term protection for generations to come. To qualify for designation, rivers or sections of rivers must be free-flowing and possess at least one “outstandingly remarkable value” (such as scenic, recreational, geologic, fish, wildlife, historical, cultural, or other similar features). I would have to say this stretch of the Sauk River checks many of those criteria!
I spend several hours at this location just soaking in the sounds of the waterfall and watching the light change. A memorable autumn day for sure!
