A 2 panel mosaic image of the Tulip Nebula region in the constellation of Cygnus. This photo spans an actual distance of about 600 light years from one side to the other. The dolphin shaped cloud of gas was ejected from this star when it shed its outer layers in a cataclysmic explosion in the past. Their masses are typically greater then 25 times that of our own sun and have relatively brief lifetimes.
