USA, Malibu California - The Getty villa is a recreation of a VILLA dei Papiri in Herculaneum , Italy. The volcano MT Vesuvius the same eruption that destroyed the city of Pompeii with lava destroyed the city of Herculaneum with a hot ash cloud. Herculaneum was rediscovered in 1750. The original villa is still unexcavated. The Getty villa is based on ancient Roman homes in the city of Pompeii. Roman homes had gardens as a place of conversation and contemplation. The garden were also used to cool the homes, grow plants for display and food. The form and functionality of these homes makes this architecture inspiring ! I find the balance in the architecture and the garden also relaxing, (cell phone museum photo)

I love the Getty Villa. I have also been to Herulaneum and Pompeii. So much to learn here.

Me too.! It is exciting to revisit both location as they continue to excavate both locations. I could be happy staying longer and get lost in exploration and photography!
