Behind The Lens

Location

There is a place in southcentral Idaho where migrating eagles hang out for a few months each year. At times there can be as many as 80 bald eagles resting in the cottonwood trees.

Time

The photo was taken around 7 p.m. in February of 2023.

Lighting

The lighting was difficult. The sun was about to set and was filtered by clouds on the horizon. There wasn't much color being produced by the sunset.

Equipment

Photo was taken with a Nikon D780 and Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 zoom handheld, ISO 400, aperature f8, shutter speed 640th of a second and focal length set at 410mm.

Inspiration

I was inspired by a whole lot of eagles.

Editing

No post processing.

In my camera bag

I carry around Nikon D300 and D780 digital cameras, 18-140mm Nikkor 3.5-4.5 AF VR ED lens, Nikkor 24-70 f2.8, Nikkor 70-200mm Nikkor f2.8 AF VR ED lens, a Nikkor 105mm f2.8 AF Macro lens, Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 zoom lens, Nikon TC-20EIII 2x teleconverter, a Nikon SB600 flash, extra camera and flash batteres, ND filters, lens cleaning stuff, portable tripods, etc.
