Location
We shot this one in studio, in Alexandria, VA, using one of the large cyc walls there.Time
Early evening.Lighting
We used big broad light for this one. I don't remember exactly what... probably an octobox or an umbrella.Equipment
Canon 7D Mark II, 24-105mm F/4L lens, Alien Bee studio lights.Inspiration
We were putting together a set with contrasting looks using the same model. This set was Masculine/Feminine, and this was, obviously, the Fem side of the equation. We went with strong makeup, the long hair, the sexy black dress, really driving home the formal, feminine look.Editing
Yes, there was some exposure adjustments, a little skin smoothing and frequency separation, and a little boost to her hair color. In my camera bag
The aforementioned Canon 7D mark II, I usually have a mid-range lens (24-105mm), a prime lens (50mm or 85mm), a pair of batteries, and a lens pen. That's it, I keep things light when I head to the studio.Feedback
Find a model who's comfortable exploring an idea. That's a big part of it. GC, our model here, just traveled in that space and made shapes and poses that felt glamorous. We've worked together a lot and we've got a good rapport. I give her a playground to play in, and she does her thing, and we check in every 10-12 shots.
