I like the rustic background. It sets off the model and her dress almost like a period piece. Well thought out and done.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in southern Finland. I love shooting outside in natural light and this was one of the first outside photoshoots i did in the summer of 2017.

Time

This was shot around noon. Luckily it was a pretty cloudy day so that the light wasn't too hars. We did have to stop and wait for the clouds to move in front of the sun a couple of times.

Lighting

This is shot outside with just natural light. I did location scouting beforehand to find a spot that had lovely even light. I wanted soft, diffuse light and as the day was quite cloudy, that was what I got.

Equipment

I used my trusted Canon 5d mk III and Sigma 50 mm f1,4 art lens. I really love that lense and use it all the time.

Inspiration

I wanted to create a harmonious image color-wise and calm and still composition. This was the first time I worked with the model Ludovica and she really was perfect for this shot. I picked these flowers before the shoot, but they had already wilted by the time we started shooting. They looked very sad, so I had to pick new flowers for the photo :) .

Editing

I mainly did some color work. Ludovica had completely black hair, so I turned them a bit more brown, to make the all aroind color scheme more cohesive. I also cropped it square to highlite a balanced and centered feel.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my 5 d mk III and Sigma art 50 mm and 35 mm. I also have my remote, so I can do self portraits etc.

Feedback

I love doing portraiture. I think the best thing to do is watch your model as she moves and allow yourself to spot interesting shapes and be inspired by what you see. The best thing for me is to quiet the voice in my head that tries to hurry me up. It's okay to take your time and pay attention.
