This photo was taken at a rental studio in Helsinki. The studio has lots and lots of natural light which I love.Time
This image was taken in the afternoon in november in Finland so there wasn't a ton of available light. The days in the nordic countries are notoriously short in the fall/winter.Lighting
I love shooting with natural light. The possibility of using natural light was what drew me to this studio. The studio has white walls which can be challenging for a photostudio, because the light bounces around. In this case I really liked it, because it created quite an even light on the subject and with the light coming from the side it created a clear separation between the subject and background even thought both the model's dress and wall were white.Equipment
I shot this with my Canon 5 d mk iii and Sigma art 50 mm f 1,4.Inspiration
This image was purely playtime for me. It was not pre-planned but purely inspired by the structure of the studio and the empty frame I found in the studio.Editing
Very minimal post-processing was used in this image. I opened up the shadows a little bit and cropped it a bit.In my camera bag
I pack my sony a7riii and my Sigma art 35 mm f1,4 and 50 mm f1,4. I also bring a tripod and big reflectors. I usually work with natural light so I try to work with no artificial light.Feedback
The best thing is to be open to what's in front of you. I usually have some images planned and I shoot them first. When I'm confident I've captured what I need to, I spend some time just playing around and being creative in the moment.
