Location
This photo was captured out behind my barn. It was one of a great many attempts at capturing the morning dew on spiderwebs. I am self taught so every shot is a learning experience.Time
The early bird gets the worm is a definite when trying to capture dew drops on spider webs. Not only are you trying to beat evaporation of the drops, but any bug/spider activity as well to prevent the drops from falling. This was taken at 9:30 am.Lighting
Lighting plays a huge role in my experience with spide web dew drops. I have learned through trial and error that having th3 morning sun behind the web is actually very beneficial in clarity of the drops.Equipment
This picture was shot on a Sony SLT A65V with a 70-300mm lens. The camera was hand held easing my ability to try different angles quickly.Inspiration
Just the fact that the dew drops adhere to a spider web is fascinating, but to be able to capture it in a picture makes it that much better. Factor in the challenge of actually capturing a great photo and I am definitely inspired.Editing
I sharpened this photo in post processing and brightened it up just a bit.In my camera bag
My Sony SLT A65V is my only camera. The lenses in my bag are the 70-300mm, a 55mm, a wide angle and I just recently added macro extension tubes. I have also just recently added some filters but have not experimented with them yet. I also carry 2 extra batteries and 2 extra SD cards.Feedback
Dew drops are a morning thing, so plan on getting out there bright and early. Try and position yourself so the spider web is between yourself and the sun. Familiarize yourself with where there are active spider webs before the morning of your shoot. An area that has weeds is a great spot for multiple spiderwebs.
