I love her expression, she's really a great model!
Just with window light and nothing else.

Behind The Lens

Location

It was in Haan near Cologne, in a Room with a Window. So this shot could be taken anywhere, where is a room with a window.

Time

It was afternoon, I think about 3 p.m.

Lighting

There was just me, the model and the window. Nothing more. The wall in the background was a simple white wall, but because of the distance to the window - about 3m - it became black on the picture. There was no reflector used or something else.

Equipment

Since there was only a window used as light source, we were sitting on the ground and I had my Nikon D800e with the 50mm with me. So it was a relaxed session, like with a friend, sitting together at the window. It was a cloudy day, so the sunlight was really soft.

Inspiration

Many things inspire me, and the more I take pictures, the more I love black and white photography. LowKey has a special magic to me.

Editing

Not much, I tried to do it straight out of my cam, but usually I do some dodge and burn to get back the dimension that was lost because of the 2 dimensional picture. At this picture that was all.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my 35mm, the 50mm and my 85mm with me. Thats all I need.

Feedback

Yes, get a window and a model and make sure no other lightsource is there (artificial or natural) and place her next to the window, looking outside. Maybe try a bit to change the direction of the head and make some shots, usually I do about 300 to 500 shots per session and in this session 5 were really good as I had it in mind. So don't be afraid of taking pictures, you can easily throw away 400 shots but you cannot create the one you need if you missed it.
