Location
This was taken on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge aka DUMBO which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. Both bridges are very near each other.Time
This was taken late morning on a very chilly March day. It was overcast with hardly any sunshine coming through. Having lived in California for many years, I was no longer used to the cold weather although I was born in Brooklyn.Lighting
As I have indicated it was an overcast, cloudy day. The photo is virtually in black and white although it was not taken as a black and white photo.Equipment
No special equipment- just my camera.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this picture because it is not the usual view of the Brooklyn Bridge and I wanted to do something different. I was intrigued by the contrast between the architecture of the bridge with the architecture of the bare limbs of the tree. It was still winter so the tree was not leafing and that made the contrast even better for me. I have made an enlargement of this photo and it is hanging in my dining room.Editing
There is very little post-processing. I did convert it to black and white but that was not at all hard to do since the natural lighting of the cloudy day practically made it a black and white photo. In my camera bag
When I took this photo I had no extra equipment except for a small tripod. Now I have much more equipment as I have progressed as an amateur photographer. I have several different lenses, flash, cable release, bigger tripod.Feedback
Look for the unusual view of a familiar site. That is what I did and I was very glad I had the patience to find it despite the cold. It is very difficult to capture a scene when so many others have done so. In this case I think I was successful in finding the unusual.
