I took this photo on my dining room table after I opened the package of toothpicks that I had just received in the mail.Time
It was in the afternoon after I had put the toothpicks in the small round bowl as seen in the photo. The toothpicks assumed the position that you see in the photo; I did not have to do anything.Lighting
No flash was used, just available light. I aimed the camera right on top of the image and clicked away.Equipment
I used a Canon SX 70 IS; no tripod, no flash,Inspiration
When I saw how the toothpicks arranged themselves in the small bowl I knew right away that this would make a great photo. I was not mistaken. I try to look for the unusual or different. This appealed to me immediately.Editing
My post-processing included changing the photo to black and white. I improved the framing a bit. Otherwise, really nothing else.In my camera bag
I have very little equipment besides the camera. I have a spare battery, small tripod, extra memory card.Feedback
Look for what is different or unusual. Everyday items, like toothpicks can offer just that if you look hard enough.
