Reflections, perfect lighting make this outstanding, what makes it "just so" for me are the fallen trees, their non perfect positions add so much realism and life to the shot.

Location
This is a picture of the Merced river in Yosemite National Park. The photo was taken from the El Capitan Bridge and El Capitan can been seen in the back ground.Time
This is a favorite image of mine. On this day I had taken my wife and kids to Yosemite National park for a day trip. We had been walking around Yosemite Valley all day and as we were driving out to go another location, we came across this bridge. With it being late afternoon, the sun was low enough to not reflect on the water but still high enough to light up the face of El Capitan.Lighting
The lighting was perfect for this photo. All natural lighting from a late afternoon summer sun. It made it perfect to darken the trees but still light enough to brighten the granite face of El Capitan.Equipment
I took this photo with my Canon T1i and I used a 18-55mm lens set to f5 with an exposure of 1/80 and an ISO of 200. I also had my camera set on a tripod.Inspiration
My family and I had spent the day walking around Yosemite Valley looking at all the beautiful things that the park has to offer. As we were driving out, I decided to stop at the El Capitan Bridge. As I looked out over the calm Merced River, I saw the reflection in the water that drew my eyes down the river to the blue granite of El Capitan. The combination of the dark green of the trees to the blue of the granite caught me. I stood and stared out at the reflection for a few minutes before taking the picture. The view was very peaceful and calming and that was what I believe I captured in the photo.Editing
Yes I did use post processing. I processed this photo in Lightroom by darkening the edges and the green in the trees. I also brought out the blue in the granite. In my camera bag
Normally I would carry my camera, lenses and other assorted things, but on I knew that we were going to be hiking around so I limited my gear to 1 camera, 1 18-55mm lens, 1 55-250mm lens and a tripod. This seamed to be the perfect set up for this trip.Feedback
My advise is that if you are going to photograph Yosemite, don't just limit yourself to sunrise and sunset. There are many locations that can be photographed at any time and even change during the day.
