Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Pineflat Lake in Fresno County California. I am a law enforcement officer and on the dive team. This was a photo I took of myself while we were training. I was waiting for my dive partner to get into the water.

Time

The photo was taken during the midday.

Lighting

The lighting was a little bright but I was able to make it work.

Equipment

For this photo, I was using my old Sealife DC500 dive camera.

Inspiration

What inspired me was that I have a lot of photos of the other divers and there are so little of me. It was a selfie while I waited for my dive partner.

Editing

In the post processing, I cropped and straightened the photo. I then enhanced the color of the back ground and then darkened it.

In my camera bag

When I am diving I have my Sealife DC500. I have now added the GOPRO hero 3+ to my underwater camera bag.

Feedback

Make sure you have the right equipment for those water shots. Don't always try to set up the shot because sometimes the quick unplanned photo (like this one) can be better than anything that you try to set up.
