Location
This photo was taken during a photography trip to Paris last spring.Time
Waking up early at 5:00 am and searching for good light just before the sunset 9:00 pm. This sunset was pretty amazing with luscious clouds. This photo was taken at 9:12 pm on May 13th, 2014.Lighting
In Paris the city lights goes on at around 9:00pm, I wanted to capture the sunset with those city lights to create a starlike effect with both sun and city lights using a f/9.0 aperture and a 2,5 second exposure.Equipment
This was shot with a Sony ILCE-7R with an FE 35mm F2.8 Zeiss lens on a tripod.Inspiration
Walking around with my friend, the great french photographer Serge Ramelli, we were looking for a nice angle to catch the Basilique Notre-Dame in Paris. A front view is always crowded with many tourists. This shot captures the essence of the building from behind with a nice view of the Seine.Editing
I took many pictures at a few minutes intervals in order to get the right exposure for the building and the sky.In my camera bag
I like to travel as light as possible, that's why I have changed my gear from Canon DSLR to SONY mirrorless system. I mainly using a Sony ILCE-7R with my Zeiss 35mm f / 2.8 and some neutral density filters, a remote control plus a lightweight tripod.Feedback
Paris is a amazing city offering many nice photographic oppportunities. Walk around during the day to find the exact location or spots that you like and go back at sunset to catch the best light.
