Each day at Miami's Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden a number of emerging butterflies are released into the Wings of the Tropics exhibit. Some of the visitors share in the release by serving as temporary resting sites. Unlike most butterflies which feed on nectar and survive only a couple of months, longwing tiger butterflies feed on both nectar and pollen which may explains why they are able to live up to six months after emerging.
