Location
Alligator alley in Florida on the way from Miami to Tarpon Springs. I've still never seen an alligator in the wild. This dragonfly was cooperative though!Time
Mid day.Lighting
I have my cell phone on voice command, so just placed it under where it perched and took about 30 pics. You never know exactly where you're aiming doing photography that way. So take a lot!Equipment
Samsung 6S cell phone.Inspiration
I always attempt dragonfly photos when they are around. Love them!Editing
Just enhanced the structure and contrast using the free app Snapseed. Then added about a 20 HDR filter. It comes up 50 by default, but that is ridiculously too much.In my camera bag
Just my cell phone, though I now have a long Bluetooth selfie stick for venomous snake photography, since I can't seem to pass up those opportunities either.Feedback
Don't stalk dragonflies! See where they like to land, sit, and move slowly when they come back. Can take 30 minutes to get one crystal clear photo that also has a composition that pleases you. If they are high, shoot up through the wings, or sometimes even a silhouette is nice. Be patient.
