We had a wonderful time when our labrador retriever had her second litter of puppies. Before they all went to their loving new homes we had the pleasure of raising them for the first weeks of their lives. On the day of this photo, they were all playing in our back yard and these two posed nicely for this shot.Time
The mid-afternoon light provided great lighting for this shot.Lighting
This was all natural sunlight, through clouds which muted the shadows.Equipment
This shot was taken in 2003 with my first digital camera, a Kodak LS420.Inspiration
The first weeks of puppies are the most precious. I was constantly taking snapshots to be able to look at them years later and remember the joy of the softest puppy fur and hilarious antics.Editing
My earliest digital photos reflect my earlier years of taking a photo and presenting it without any changes. So this image is a "straight from the camera" gem.In my camera bag
My camera kit now includes a Sony A65, numerous zoom lenses, a couple fixed lenses, flash, tripod and filters. Sometimes, these early shots without all the equipment were best.Feedback
Best advice that I can share is have fun, take lots, share your favourites and never erase them, even the ones you may not think are the highest quality. Another tip, make sure you keep back-ups, because some of these may be lost forever with a drive crash.
