I took this photo at Kruger National Park in South Africa.Time
This photo was taken in late morning. It was taken from an open window of our guide's vehicle. I had no tripod, which would have been useless to use from a vehicle anyway. I couldn't believe the beautiful and astonishing colors of this bird! By far, my favorite bird for the entire safari.Lighting
It was a bright sunny day which helped to bring out the fantastic coloration of the bird's feathers.Equipment
I used my Canon T3 with my 55-200 mm lens.Inspiration
Our safari guide, Joy, pointed this bird out to my husband and me. I was so excited to see such a striking looking bird! I had never seen such a variety of colors on just one bird! I have made this photo into a large canvas and have it hanging in my home. Everyone notices it and asks about it.Editing
I did not do any post-processing on this photo. I didn't think it needed it.In my camera bag
Since this photo was taken I have acquired a Canon T6 and often use my 55-300mm lens.Feedback
Birds are everywhere! If your quest is to take bird shots you should probably have a good pair of binoculars. You'll also most likely need a good telephoto lens. If you're on foot, a tripod would be helpful. However, sometimes you'll just need to be quick before the bird flies away. I always take numerous shots as birds can move around a lot. Sometimes, you can catch something in your shot, you didn't realize was there.
