Location
It's at the lake of constance where the river Rhein joins into the lake. And at the river delta there is this little island. on the left side behind the fog you can see switzerland while I was standing in austria to shoot. You cannot drive there by car so you have to go by bicycle or foot. With the bike it's about 20 min. through the forest from the last parking space at the beginning of the woods.Time
I love this place because in the early morning hours it's really peacefull and calm. When the fog was thick this day I decided to go to that little island. It was about 6 a.m. when I took my dog and my Fuji X-M1 with the 28mm pancake lens. Because of the daytime there were many birds swimming and sitting on the tree. My idea was to take a picture of the island in the fog very isolated from everything else. So I threw a stone into the lake to get rid off the birds, but what happended should become the most exciting part of the picture. The ducks went a bit away to the side and the swans thought I might have thrown a bread into the lake and began to swim towards me. The storks where startled and began to pivot around the tree. So thats why all the birds are so amazing at this scene when my intention was to get rid of the birds :)Lighting
There was the sunlight and a thick fog, thats all, and thats why this picture is so evenly lit.Equipment
As I mentioned, just my Fuji X-M1 with the 28mm pancake lens. I did a Pano shot by hand and sticked it together with photoshop.Inspiration
Isolation. I wanted to do a shot of the isolated island but as many things in life, the best things just happen. Finally it wasn't an isolated island but it was much better!Editing
Yes I sticked the pano in photoshop, and converted it into black and white. I increased the contrast to match the scenes mood and created some darkness from the top and the bottom and I moved the storks a bit because of the composition of the picture. In my camera bag
My Nikon D800e, 35mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.4 and water! ;) But this time just my Fuji X-M1 with the 28mm pancake lens and I love this camera! It's so tiny and it delivers a wonderful quality!Feedback
Think the most importrant thing about this is the time of the day and that it was in autumn when the wetter gets colder.
