These bells made of bronze, an alloy of copper and tin, are stored inside the scrap yard of the foundery Cornille-Havard (France - Villedieu les Poeles) specialized in campanology, the study of bells. Despite appearances, they are as tall as human size and weigh tons. I have heard one of the biggest weighed 100 tons! Many of them are considered as lost because all all attempts to repair will alter most likely their timbre definitively. Big bells are always suspended from a huge piece of wood to cushion vibrations to the masonry. If it not so, major risk to encounter structural stability abnomalies. http:--claude-lustier.artistwebsites.com-featured-bells-for-scrap-planetoday-photography.html
