Drawing is not only art it is also an essential medium of education and communication in the same way as writing. Some of us consider drawing as a distinct category of writing. Since the dawn of time, human have always expressed the vital need to convey his knowledge and other useful information from generations to generations. The problem was to substitute some messages spread by word of mouth – then easily altered – for something less volatile as the time passed. Drawings like rock paintings existed before writings such as hieroglyphs or Sumerian cuneiform script. After all drawing is the distant ancestor of computers which memorize endlessly data. Drawing has the big advantage to be implemented by anybody without the constraints of writing. No syntax, no grammar... Drawing does not suffer from the language barrier so that it would be the universal tool for communicating. But it is not... Drawing has not the same rigor and precision as writing. Today, anthropologists, ethnologists and archaeologists are still attempting to decipher mysterious but very ancient drawings spread all over the world. The major part relate scene of everyday life but some of them are a bit disconcerting. They feed all kinds of interpretations: passage of aliens, movement of celestial bodies, unknown civilisations, etc.
However if drawing is the basis of all visual communications it can turn into an efficient line of communication to affect strongly public opinion through propaganda, caricature, and marketing.
But drawing has more benefits than the above mentioned. Children need to create and to develop self-confidence. Unfortunately, today many of them prefer to watch television or spend time on video games. In some cases, they live inside a virtual world. So the question is: how to stimulate their creativity? Psychologists will explain with good reason that it is up to the parents to create a positive environment to encourage the natural curiosity of the children and make drawing fun. Easy to write, easy to say but to put into practice is different as the key of success require availability and motivation on both sides (child –parents) http:--claude-lustier.artistwebsites.com-featured-i-love-drawing-planetoday-photography.html
