It is a captivating image, but the more I look at it the more I doubt that this is a Barn Owl. It could be, but I've not seen one with that much barring on the wings.

Wow I Won Blimey well the photo was taken at my local bird of prey sanctuary in Ringwood run by a very dedicated family who offer up days to raise money for their care for amateur Photographers like myself - and as you have to marvel at these birds in their size and strength I took the opportunity to get up close and personal. I had tried so long to get a picture of our resident owl in the forest behind my house to no availTime
this was during the day but in a barn under studio conditions and as you can see this is a baby owl which had been reared in the sanctuary haven been found abandonedLighting
The studio lighting used was of Led nature so as not to stress the birdsEquipment
I used my Canon 70D for these shoots and a 100 -400mm zoom on a monopod as the canon zoom can become very heavy after a while, unfortunately the 70D is not Canons best for reliability and failed after only 9 months with a auto focus issue which Canon would not repair hence, why I now use the more superior 6DInspiration
Owls in general they are so stunning to watch in flight with their seductive big eyes you cant help but be mesmerized dare I say they are like a seductive female assassin cute and deadly to their preyEditing
no completely as shotIn my camera bag
Canon 6 and 5D's 100- 400mm zoom 24-105 zoom and 17 - 24 wide angleFeedback
certainly be inspired by these images but don't let it end there look around locally for opportunities like this they are not only educational but to gaze on these birds close up you end up forty percent of the time just marvelling at their build and stature highly addictive. take your camera's off of auto everything and discover the camera's full potential
