Location
"La forêt des singes" Rocamadour. A beautiful site. The beauty of the setting aside, you will immediately be struck by the well-being of the animals. And how could it be otherwise? After all, at ‘La Forêt des Singes’ the animals are king. Vast areas are provided to ensure the monkeys’ peace and quiet. Their diet is well balanced, they are safe from predators and can roam freely. La Forêt des Singes’ is actively involved in the preservation of the Barbary macaque, a threatened species, by: • raising public awareness about the threats to the species • reintroducing entire groups to their original habitats • sponsoring Barbary macaque conservation associations and conducting ethological researchTime
It was in the middle of the day. All the monkeys are very closed and it's possible to see many expressions. Sometime the yougest play together, the older ones take a nap. Others are gathered in family.Lighting
It was very sunny with a hard light. I took advantage of the shade of the trees to obtain a beautiful light and I tried to use the leaves around the head of the monkey.Equipment
I use a Nikon D300S and a zoom Nikkor 70-200 mm. This allows you to keep a little distance to photograph calmlyInspiration
The monkey seem so human I wanted to capture a good expression, like a portrait. And I noticed that the leaves were moving in front of the animal's head. I wanted to use this to add a pop of color and a bit of foreground blur.Editing
Often I use clarity and contrast with Lightroom. Here, I used it to restore the coat. I gave depth to the lookIn my camera bag
I always use the same camera : my Nikon D 300S, a lense 16-85 mm Nikkor, a lense 70-200 mm Nikkor, a tripod, filters.Feedback
Take your time ! Observe, try to see expressions. Often, I don't take to much photos, I'm looking for the best momment. It's difficult because the most of the time we trigger too late, we must anticipate. A good challenge !
