LOL, a lot of trial and error. A lens ball sitting on a paper clip to keep it in place on a piece of glass for a reflection. Turn the lights off and start shooting while moving finger lights around the lens ball. A pandemic time killer!

Location
I took this photo in the basement of my home.Time
As I wanted a dark background I took this later in the evening so there was little ambient light.Lighting
Long exposure, no ambient light while playing with finger lights.Equipment
I used my D750 Nikon camera with a 105 mm macro lens. As this was a long exposure I had my camera mounted on a tripod and used a remote to trigger my camera while I already moving the fingers lights through the viewing field.Inspiration
My inspiration was total boredom! The pandemic had put a damper on our travels so I was looking for something to stimulate and occupy my time. I had purchased a lens ball quite a while ago and really had found no logical reason for having done so. I decided to try and find a reason for purchasing that item. As my husband rolled his eyes at my setup I smiled and started shooting. This particular photo was my favorite of the many that I took.Editing
Minimal post processing other than darkening shadows and lowering exposure around the edges of the photo. In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D750 with my everyday Nikkor 28-300 mm zoom lens. This lens covers most situations well. Depending on what I am planning on shooting I will add other lenses or my tripod. For distance I might add my Nikkor 80-400 mm, for close-ups I will add my Nikkor 105 mm macro lens. If I am shooting actions shots I will usually add my Nikkor 70-200 mm lens. Of course I always have an extra battery and photo chip.Feedback
Simply let your imagination take you. If you google a certain type photo and like the results you see then try it. You learn by trial and error and having some fun!
