Location
This photo was taken in London. They are relatively new sculptures called Angel's Wings. They are designed by Thomas Heatherwick. I really like them and the beautiful mono colours.Time
Id been out for most of the day walking around London with my camera. It was getting to the end of the afternoon and i came across these. London was pretty quiet at this time, so i put my bag down and waited for the right person to come along.Lighting
It wasn't the brightest of days so the light wasn't great. Not having any overcast sky in the shot meant i could shoot at a highish ISO. I think these would look great if the sun hit them but I'm afraid its quite a sheltered area that they stand.Equipment
I used a Nikon D800 hand held with a Sigma ART 35mm lens. Its a great focal length on a FX camera body. Works for street, architecture and the long exposure stuff i normally do.Inspiration
The sculpture inspired me, its a great sculpture and i was hoping to do it justice in a photo. I wanted the right person to be in-between the two "wings". I waited and waited and finally a jogger came along. He was a right character, dressed more like a 80s gym goer than a London jogger. Yet was perfect for my photograph.Editing
The photo was worked in Lightroom, converted it to black and white. I thin dodged and burnt areas of the photo to get some great contrast going. Clarity was added in areas and taken out of others. I really think the work i put into this paid off as its a photo i personally like.In my camera bag
Ive always got a wide angle lens, ND filters and a remote for my long exposure photography. Depending what I'm going out to shoot depends what else i will add.Feedback
Find the location you want and wait for the right time/person to enter the frame. It may take a few hours to get what you want but can certainly be worth it.
