Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best photos showing people and patterns in the Patterns And People Photo Contest in collaboration with friend and professional photographer David Beckstead and our friends at Spider Holster!

David was named “The Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World” by American Photo magazine - March 2007 David is truly a mountain man at heart! He has traveled to over 80 countries and almost every state in the US. He has hiked thousands of miles of backcountry, including above the base camp of Mt. Everest. He was one of the first registered trackers for Arizona Search and Rescue. He worked for the US Forest Service for 12 summers as a Hotshot firefighter fighting fires around the US and Canada, all the while carrying a Nikon SLR with a 50 mm 1.8 lens. David is a fine art watercolor painter and lover of all things artistic.

Grand Jury Winner

"I was fist inthralled by the two subjects and how they formed a pattern with their body positions. Same shapes. Then the pattern of shadows drew me in further. Images like this are not easy to come by. Dynamic compositions captured on the fly. I love posed images but my heart still so respects a great documented and well designed frame! When I came up with the Patterns and People title for this contest I had no idea what would jump out for me as the 1st place winner. This jumped out from a wonderful set of finalist images. Amazing and powerful!" - David Beckstead

Runner Up

"The pattern of the subjects positioning, water shape and movement and symmetry really grabbed my attention! I am drawn to photographers who really spend the time to develop a concept. Give us something different and unusual. Such an atypical idea with these kids! Pattern and People: this is it!" - David Beckstead

Finalist

"Patterns everywhere! Lovely closeup with such added interest of the pattern points of light and patterned hat and material. So many photographers think that the beauty of the women should be enough to make a great image. I personally want more. I want a photographer to get out of the normal and create something different. This photographer did just that!" - David Beckstead
